60g an hour (Warcraft server)

Easy Gold Guide

This method of farming has netted us over 1000 gold in no time, allowing us to purchase anything we want. This guide requires you to be a class who can stealth and an enchanter (at least 125 skill level). Also you must be a high level capable of killing 40+ elites. If you cannot stealth, you can still farm like this but the time you spend killing the mobs between bosses can really shoot your gold per hour rate (Hunters may be able to feign death in, but we re unsure about this).

1) Free up 5 or 6 slots in your bags.
2) Fly to Theramore Isle and go south and enter Razorfen Downs.
3) Kill Glutton, drops Fleshhide Shoulders most of the time, disenchant.
4) Follow the path around and around until you get to Amnemnar the Coldbringer, kill him, and he sometimes drops two blues, disenchant them.
5) This step depends on your AoE capability. Mordresh Fire Eye has a lot of skellies around him that will attack you when you attack him. Druids will do this easily, but rogues may have a hard time (be creative on the ways to kill him).
6) Leave the instance and then reset. Do this a max number of five times an hour. After your farming session, go back to your nearest auction place.

When you disenchanted the blues you got Small Radiant Shards. These are a popular item that is always on demand. On our server, the price for a 4-stack is around 16-17g. We always 4 stack them (fiery enchant mats). We sell them for 15g, and say we get 16-20 shards a session, that is 4×15 = 60g! Ready for the next level? Easy Cash for Mages (Level 60)

Location: Silithus.
Build: Preferably Frost.

Essence of Air Grinding
In the northwestern corner of Silithus, there are approximately 50-70 air elementals. They have a slim chance to drop Essence of Air (these baby's sell for 10-20g each on our server), but this slight probability is reduced if you're killing all 70 at once.

Let's get some dosh!
Start on the outskirt of the elemental spawn. Throw on Ice Barrier (it won't ever break, really) and gather one elemental by running into it. Cast Rank 1 Arcane Explosion and run to another elemental. For each mob that aggros you, cast Rank 1 Arcane Explosion once. This will make sure that they never de-aggro you and run back to their original spawn point. Repeat the process until every single air elemental is following you, or an amount that suits you.

Followed by:
Next, Frost Nova followed by Cone of Cold, then spam Arcane Explosion until they all die. They're a pain to loot sometimes since they're all clustered together, but by maneuvering your screen cam around, you can easily loot every single mob. Each pull takes next to no time to re spawn and you can repeat this again and again.

To conclude:
On average, we gathered about 15 Essences using this method, in roughly 50 minutes. That's 150g per. hour at least.
We recommend you have decent gear when attempting this as if you are fresh into level 60; you may experience difficulties. Ready for the next level? Rogue Yes No Yes
Shaman Yes No Yes
Warlock Yes No Yes
Warrior Yes Yes Yes

As you can see from the table above, the Ultimate WoW Guide contains talent builds (specs) up to level 70 for most classes, and level 60 for some. There are also comments on the various builds so you know if they’re good for raiding / PvE / leveling / PvP and such. This makes it pretty easy to figure out how to place talents if you need to.

Another very helpful feature is the loot lists for all instances from 1-70, and even battlegrounds, class quests, and reputations. Since a lot of WoW is about finding better gear, you’ll always know where to find the best items for your specific class.

Reputation Guides

To be honest, the reputation guides inside the Ultimate World of Warcraft Guide are nothing more than links to the articles at wowwiki.com where you can read up (for free) on how to raise your reputation with various factions.

Gold guides

There are two sections of gold guides here, one for World of Warcraft Classic and one for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Both are good. I used to use the gold guides for WoW Classic quite extensively at level 60, and I’ve tested the level 70 gold guides too and they deliver on the promise of "150+ gold an hour". (And I haven’t seen some of these tips anywhere else.)

The guides don’t list too many ways to make gold, but a few good ones are all you need. You’ll also learn how to use Auctioneer (a mod) to make gold from trading the auction house, various gathering routes, but it’s mostly about grinding for gold.

Leveling Guides

There are several articles that will help you level up faster, even if it’s not the strongest area of the guide (but it has improved lately).

There’s a 26-60 grinding guide that I’ve used myself which is very good.

Recently a level 1-60horde questing guide has been added.

New for the Burning Crusade are two separate 60-70 Horde or Alliance Leveling guides based on questing. They’re a bit hard to understand, though, in my opinion (or maybe I’m just a bit slow).

Profession Guides

The profession guides included in The Ultimate WoW Guide are skill-up guides only (with a few comments and tips on the various professions here and there). Since you’ll be having 5 professions (two primary and first aid, cooking and fishing) this will save you a lot of time, and it’s also a great reference if you want to drop a profession and pick up a new one. There are guides for all professions except fishing. Basically, the guides list what you need to make or gather, where you can get recipes for it, and what mats you’ll need. Where it’s warranted, like with skinning and herbalism, there are separate guides for horde and alliance.

Some professions, like leatherworking, also have specializations and in some of the guides there are separate skill-up instructions for the specializations.

Overall, the profession guides is a pretty neat section of The Ultimate WoW Guide, and considering that some people charge $30 for this information alone then it’s a great deal to have it included.

Beginner’s Guide

There’s an entire 85 page beginner’s guide included in The Ultimate WoW Guide, downloadable in PDF format and as an audio book if you’d rather listen to it. I’ve seen guides like this sell for $20-30 alone. It’s written by an ex-WoW player and covers the basics including some of the Burning Crusade (the WoW expansion pack). However, the guide is not 100% accurate in its statements so you’d be well advised to take everything with a grain of salt. If you experience something in World of Warcraft that contradicts the guide, trust your experience.

You probably won’t read it more than once before you move on to the intermediate and advanced stuff, but since it’s included for free there’s nothing bad about that.

Other articles

Currently there are some articles here that may or may not interest you, such as: small pet guide, honor guide, combat ratings explained, profession trainers list, faction recipes rewards and more. It’s a nice addition to the guide, anyhow.

My conclusion

The Ultimate WoW Guide is pretty well rounded and gives good advice on a broad range topics.

The strongest point of "The Ultimate World Of Warcraft Guide" has to be the gold guide. It features lots of varied strategies, so you’re sure to find one that suits your playing style. There’s quite a bit of detail in the specifics of grinding, the areas, the loot, what to auction, and at what level to grind the different zones.

The class guides will really help, too, since a lot of mastering a class has to do with placing talents which is covered in-depth.  The loot lists are extensive and you won’t run out of ideas for gear regardless of the level you are. Most items are linked to wow.allakhazam.com, for easy reference of stats.

A very important reason that I recommend this guide is the frequency of updates. I’ve been subscribed since August 2006, and not only do you get all future updates for free, but they also come in a timely manner. For every big patch, including 2.0 and the expansion pack, the Ultimate WoW Guide has delivered updates to the class guides, leveling guides, profession guides and everything else that’s been necessary. In fact, it has even overdelivered.

The price is just right, too, and if you want a guide that covers all classes and a lot of different aspects of WoW, the Ultimate WoW Guide is for you. Click here for more information.

You could probably make a little more if you are alliance, but should be easy with either. Having skinning will make it go a lot faster too, I would think you would need to be level 35+. You will need someone with at least level 10 and 115 leatherworking too, you could make a mule yourself easily and get that skill level.

Rest is pretty simple, head over to Wailing Caverns do the quest http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=1487 send receipe to the mule then grind the instance, collect 10 perfect deviate scales and 10 deviate scales, send to leatherworking mule, make belt and sell to rich rogue twinks for anything from 20-50g. Reset instance and repeat, good thing is you will never run into the instance limit as will take you longer than 12 mins to complete it

I've never seen these for sale on the alliance AH. I saw a twink the other day, theres even a few guilds of them with all the blue stuff (barb, lynx, blackened) but he didn't have this belt so hopefully theres a market for them.

I wasn't there for long but picked up 3 perfect and 7 deviate, bags got full though, alot of lvl 11-12 greens dropped that I sold, not a great deal of money in it though. I didn't find the quest guy but apparently theres a vendor near him so that good for unloading junk, trouble with skinning you have to loot everything.

Of course only list one at a time, also if you get close to 50g (don't know how possible this is!) for one belt I would imagine other ppl will start grinding for them, in that respect I don't know when the best time to list them would be?

Nearest base for horde is obviously Crossroads, easy for them to send stuff off or sell, nearest mailbox for alliance seems to be astranaar? Feel free to add anything to increase profits! (may be worth picking up enchanting to de stuff, probably for horde as base close and can send off dusts) Ready for the next level? We recommend The MMORPG Exchange for your WoW Gold needs. The key for all aspiring young blacksmiths is finding the raw material you will need to craft your creations. Therefore it is highly recommended that you take up the complementary skill mining along with blacksmithing or have several friends who are dedicated to mining for you. Like other materials related crafts blacksmithing requires 1 skill point to become an apprentice, 3 additional skill points to become a journeyman, and 5 additional skill points to become an expert. If you decide to take up mining as well to finance your blacksmithing venture, you will need to spend 3 skill points for apprentice mining, 5 additional skill points for journeyman mining, and 7 additional skill points for expert mining. As a result, unless you are human you will need to reach level 25 before becoming expert in both mining and blacksmithing.

Blacksmithing requires perhaps the most eclectic array of materials of any of the crafting professions. In order to craft some of the higher end weapons and armors you will need to collect materials from all of the gathering disciplines (Fishing, Mining, Herbing, and Skinning). As an example, in order to craft the Shadow War Axe you will need an alchemy Shadow Oil potion from an alchemist which in turn requires an Oil Blacktail fish from a fisherman along with other herbs. But for the most part your main components will come from mining so here is a list of the more common components you will need in great quantity listed in order of difficulty to attain (number in parentheses is the mining skill required).

Copper Bars (1) Your basic copper acquired from Copper mining nodes found in most hilly and mountainous starting zones (e.g. Dun Morough, Elwynn Forest, Durotar).
Tin Bars (65) These are found in Tin mines in lower level zones (e.g.Barrens, Loch Modan, Redridge)
Bronze Bars Bronze bars are smelted by combining Copper and Tin bars.
Silver Bars (75) Silver mines are quite scarce and found occasionally in place of a Tin or Iron mine.
Iron Bars (155 bug should be 100) Iron Mines are found in mid level mountainous zones and are usually guarded by ornery inhabitants of those zones (e.g. Alterac, Thousand Needles, Stonetalon)
Steel Bars Steel bars need Iron bars to lend them strength and Coal (from a trade vendor) to ensure the fires of your forge burn hot enough.
Gold Bars (155) Gold mines are a precious and rare commodity and can be found in place of Iron mine.
Mithril Bars (155) Mithril mines deep in the heart of the mountain yield an abundance of Mithril, unfortunately no blacksmithing formulas currently use it.
Truesilver Bars (155) not yet implemented Truesilver mines currently give you iron ore

In addition to metal you will also find stones inside mines which are also needed to make sharpening stones to add weapons damage and grinding stones used in almost all recipes.
Rough Stones Found in Copper mines
Coarse Stones Found in Tin and Silver mines
Heavy Stones Found in Iron and Gold mines

The final element you will commonly need to create your weapons and armor is the gemstones. Some can be found mining while others need to be acquired either from killing specific creatures or from fishing. In order of difficulty to obtain though not necessarily rarity:

Malachite Copper Mines
Tigerseye Copper Mines
Shadowgem Copper Mines
Small Lustrous Pearl Fishing or Small clams from Murlocs
Moss Agate Tin and Silver mines
Lesser Moonstone Tin, Silver, Iron, and Gold Mines
Iridescent Pearl Fishing or Large clams from higher level Murlocs
Jade Iron and Gold Mines
Citrine Iron and Gold Mines (and Dragons)

As in all of the trade crafts the difficulty of an item to make directly impacts how likely you will gain skill points from creating that item. Orange items will always give you a skill up. Yellow items will usually give a skill up. Green items very rarely give a skill up and grey items will never give a skill up. My suggestion is to always create orange or yellow items which require only ore and grinding stones as those two are your most common components. This will allow you to skill up quickly to the point where you can start selling some of your items at which point you can use your more rare ingredients to create items that people will actually want to use.

The blacksmithing trainer in all the major cities have the exact same stock formulas so there is no need to run around to different city trainers looking for different recipes. There are however special trainers scattered around the world that will teach you additional recipes. The three available in the alliance push are in the Stormwind Dwarven district (Hardened Iron Shortsword), Booty Bay (Moonsteel Broadsword), and Refuge Point(Solid Iron Maul). In addition to specialty trainers there are two other ways to acquire more formulas. Monsters will occasionally drop recipes relative to their level. And certain trade vendors in remote cities will sell smithing recipes (such as the Golden Chain Helmet in Tanaris). Ready for the next level? We recommend The MMORPG Exchange for your WoW Gold needs. — Start Fishing FAQ —

This guide covers the Fishing profession that is now a secondary skill. Which means that you can have this skill in addition to your two primary skills. I suggest getting this skill as it can be a nice way to pass time and make a lot of cash as a newbie. Whether this skill is truely usefull at high levels is under debate. There are however some pretty high price catches as well as different trade recipes and locked chests containing materials for almost all the trades.

Okay. I decided to pick up engineering, Here's the guide that I created last night, trying to spend the least amount of gold I could. I must admit that it's about 70 gold for EVERYthing, But in the end, you'll have like 20-25 gold in your pocket. This is the Quick and Dirty way. If you can't keep up with the bill, I suggest getting mining, as it alleviates nearly 90% of your costs when you just straight mine to 300.
First is the shopping list of all items I used in my powerlevel. You WILL have leftovers on most things but I padded for the unlucky.
Next is the List itself. What to skill up on until the level desired. For instance, 1-40 means stop doing it when you get your 40th profession point. Next, what typically you can do with the item. Then, AHed ingredients and finally the ingredients in ONE make of the crafted item.

Also, please leave comments.

Pick up Schematics that help out:

'Discombulator Ray':
1.You need a DELTA ACCESS security card. It's a low % drop in gnomeregan, so getting it is the hardest part. I've found 3 off of the mobs coming from the back door. You can also find it from AH though in some cases. The important part about delta security card is that it is not BoP, so once you have gotten your schematic, sell it to someone else.
2. You must have 160 engineering.
3. Learn the schematic directly from 3500-D terminals on the way to Thermaplugg from the back door, in the engineering labs.
*4. Now, I have heard also that Alliance need to have the Red Access card, as well, but I did not have it when I got the ability.

'Schematics: Repair bot 74A':
Learn this from a scroll on the ground next to Golem Lord Argelmach in BRD at 300 engineering. (First of all, you'll need the Shadowforge Key.
1. Take your first left, unlock the gate, run up to the gate on the right, unlock that, run up to the door on the left, unlock it.
2. Walk up to the big gear in this room, and unlock the chain.
3. Run up the ramp in this room, take the left up the stairs, then follow the hallways. You'll come to a room with about 4 fire elementals, stairs going down on the left, and a ramp going down on the right. Go right.
4. Ahead of you will be many non-elite gnomes and elite elementals standing around. Go straight down from the ramp until you come to a room with a named, and two elementals guarding him.
5. The plans are to your right.)
It takes 12 Thorium Bars, 4 Rugged Leather, 1 Fused Wiring, 2 Elemental Earth, and 1 Elemental Fire. It has only 1 charge before it is expended. Not cheap.

—Types of Artisan Engineering—

The Master Gnome engineer is in Booty Bay.
The Master Goblin engineer is in Gadgetzan. These trainers will give you a task to complete to join
that society. Note that you don't need to choose either, as it is not linked to learning
artisan engineering at level 35 at all.

For your Goblin engineering quest:
20 Big Iron Bombs (190) (3x Iron Bar 3x Heavy Blasting Powder 1x Silver Contact)
20 Solid Dynamite (175) (1x Solid Blasting Powder 1x Silk Cloth)
5 Explosive Sheep (150)
(1x Bronze Framework 1x Whirring Bronze Gizmo 2x Heavy Blasting Powder 2x Wool Cloth)

For your Gnome engineering quest:
6 Mithril Tubes (195) (3x Mithril Bar)
1 Accurate Scope (180) (1x Bronze Tube 1x Jade 1x Citrine)
2 Advanced Target Dummies (185)
(1x Iron Strut 1x Bronze Framework 1x Gyrochronatom 4x Heavy Leather)

Goblin is the realm of BOOM. You get a wider variety of and more powerful explosives. Unfortunately the dragon gun and the mortar still trigger the shared explosive reuse timer, though they are on seperate cooldowns.

Goblin engineering produces the following:
1) (205) Goblin mining hat (AC 190, +15 sta, +5 mining, mail armor, BoP) (You no take candle!)
2) (205) Goblin construction hat (AC 44, +15 fire resist, cloth, BoP) Use: absorb 300 to 500 fire damage for 1 minute.
3) (205) Goblin sapper charge (explosive, limited use) Damage enemies around you for a lot while damaging you
for slightly less.
4) (205) Goblin Rocket Fuel recipe (creates a recipe) create recipes for alchemists, who in turn can supply you
with goblin rocket fuel, necessary for some schematics.
5) (205) Goblin Mortar (explosive, 6 uses) Has a minimum and maximum range. Binds on equip, so you can
recharge your own mortar (using the Mortar: Reloaded schematic gained at the same time) for significantly
fewer resources than a new mortar, but cannot recharge anyone elses as it is soulbound to them.
Also worth noting is that this item apparently still causes a 'stun' effect instead of a 'disorient' effect,
which is somewhat more useful. However, the radius is smaller than listed, probably 6 yards instead of 10.
6) (225) Goblin Rocket Boots (AC 41, cloth) These boots are one of the few items usable by those without
the engineering skill. They allow fast running for a short period of time, but are prone to explosion.
7) (230) Goblin Bomb Dispenser (trinket, BoP) Can create one bomb that behaves as an exploding sheep, every
30 minutes.
Cool (235) The Big One (explosive, 2 uses) A massive bomb that deals high damage in a huge radius. Has a
longer than usual activation time.
9) (240) Goblin Dragon Gun (trinket, BoP) A 10-second channel creates a cone of flame that deals damage each second.
10(?)) (245) Goblin Rocket Helmet (AC 50, +15 sta, cloth) Allows you to charge an enemy, knocking it unconscious
for 30 seconds and yourself for less time. Damage ends the effect.

Gnomish is the realm of devices. Trinkets for every occasion. If you are satisfied with the amount of explosives from standard engineering, go gnomish for utility.

Gnomish engineering produces the following:
1) (205) Gnomish Shrink Ray (trinket) temporarily reduces target's attack power by 250. this can also backfire
on the user, causing them to shrink or grow.
2) (205) Inlaid mithril cylinder plans (creates a recipe) creates plans for blacksmiths, who in turn can
provide you with mithril cylinders, necessary for some schematics.
3) (210) Gnomish Goggles (AC 45, +9 agi, +9 sta, +9 spi, cloth, BoP) goggles with agility
4) (210) Gnomish Net-O-Matic Projector (trinket) Roots target for 10 seconds, 10 minute cooldown. Can backfire
and root the user instead.
5) (215) Gnomish Harm Prevention belt (AC 66, +6 sta, leather) Use: blocks 500 damage over the next minute,
but can also temporarily remove the user from reality.
6) (225) Gnomish rocket boots (AC 41, cloth) requires engineering to use, but cannot be destroyed like the

About this guide.
This guide will show you how to get your alchemy skill up from 0 to 300. The guide will only use recipe's available at a trainer until 265 and vendor available recipes from 265 to 300.
This guide only uses recipes that require herbs and vendor bought material (vials).
This guide does not tell you how to get all the different recipes from quests, vendors or drops. What you do once you hit 300 is entirely up to you. This guide will not tell you what to do with the potions you make either.
This guide is primarily aimed at those who want to switch profession at high level or have high-level alts, friends or guild members.

Preparation
You are going to need a lot of herbs. Create an alt storage character to store these herbs and then farm (or have an alt farm) for the herbs needed. Use the in game mail system to send the herbs to the storage character. Don't forget to send some gold to the storage character, so she can send the herbs back.
Once you have all the components collected, everything has to be sent back to your main character. The mailbox only shows the first 50 items you have in the mail. It also puts the last item send to you on top. So to avoid complications send the components you need first last: i.e. Peacebloom and Silverleaf are needed first, so these are the last to be send back to your main, after the Briarthorn, Mageroyal, etc.
The recipe's used require vendor bought components such as vials. These cost gold. To learn recipes from a trainer also costs gold. The amount of gold needed is approximately 40 to 50 gold if you farm all of the herbs. If you want to buy everything you need from the auction house expect to spend upwards to 225 gold. This does not include gold for recipes from vendors or the auction house.
Below is a table that shows the amount of herbs needed. The minimum amount column shows the minimum amount needed if you would get a skill point every time you make something. However at some point a recipe will be yellow or even green when you make something so you won't always get a skill point. The estimated amount column deals with this, so try to get the estimated amount of herbs on your storage character. If you are buying all the herbs you need from the auction house, I suggest getting the minimum amount and only buy more when needed.

Getting from 1 to 50
Getting from 1 to 50 is easy enough. Make 60 minor healing potions. This should get you to skill 60. You need at least skill 55 for the next step; so don't worry if you didn't get to 60. Keep the minor healing potions, you will need them later.
Once you hit 50 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Journeyman Alchemist. You have to be level 10 to become Journeyman Alchemist.
This table shows the different recipes used to get from 0 to 50.

Skill Item From - To
1 Minor Healing Potion 0 - 60 (60)

Getting from 50 to 125
Use the minor healing potions made earlier to make lesser healing potions to get to 110. If you didn't reach 110, make elixirs of wisdom until you do.
At 110 you can train the healing potion recipe. Make those until skill 125.
Once you hit 125 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Expert Alchemist. You have to be level 20 to become Expert Alchemist.
This table shows the different recipes used to get from 50 to 125.

Skill Item From - To
55 Lesser Healing Potion 60 - 110 (50)
90 Elixir of Wisdom 105 - 110 (5)
110 Healing Potion 110 - 125 (15)

Getting from 125 to 200
Make some more healing potions to get to skill 140. Make lesser mana potions to get to 155, greater healing potions to get to 185 and elixirs of agility to get to 200.
Once you hit 200 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Artisan Alchemist. You have to be level 35 to become Artisan Alchemist.
This table shows the different recipes used to get from 125 to 200.

Skill Item From - To
110 Healing Potion 125 - 140 (15)
120 Lesser Mana Potion 140 - 155 (15)
155 Greater Healing Potion 155 - 185 (30)
185 Elixir of Agility 185 - 200 (15)

Getting from 200 to 265
Make some more elixirs of agility to get to 210. Make elixirs of greater defence until 215 and then make superior healing potions until 230. Make elixirs of detect undead to get to 250 and elixir of greater agility to get to 265.
This table shows the different recipes used to get from 200 to 265.

Skill Item From - To
185 Elixir of Agility 200 - 210 (10)
195 Elixir of Greater Defence 210 - 215 (5)
215 Superior Healing Potion 215 - 230 (15)
230 Elixir of Detect Undead 230 - 250 (20)
240 Elixir of Greater Agility 250 - 265 (15)

Getting from 265 to 300
Although you can get to 300 using the elixir of detect demon recipe, the Gromsblood needed is expensive when bought from the auction house so I decided to use vendor available recipe's to get from 265 to 300.
Get the superior mana potion recipe from Ulthir in Darnassus or Algernon in Undercity and the major healing potion recipe from Evie Whirlbrew in Everlook.
Make superior mana potion to get to skill 285 and major healing potions to get to 300.
Congratulations, you now have 300 skill in alchemy.
This table shows the different recipes that are available through vendors to get from 265 to 300.
Skill Item From - To
260 Superior Mana Potion 265 - 285 (20)
275 Major Healing Potion 280 - 300 (20)

This table shows who and where the different vendors are for the previously mentioned recipe's.

What Who Where
Superior Mana Potion Ulthir (Alliance Faction)
Algernon (Horde Faction) Darnassus
Undercity
Major Healing Potion Evie Whirlbrew (Neutral) Everlook in Winterspring Ready for the next level? We recommend The MMORPG Exchange for your WoW Gold needs. Cooking and Fishing: Combo Guide for Alliance

This guide is intended to give directions to get a level 40+ Alliance character from zero to 300 in cooking and fishing at the same time. It's not the only way to skill-up these professions, but it's very easy and requires a minimum of travel (always a plus). All drop percentages and location details are borrowed from Thottbot and Allakhazam.

Note on fishing: Fishing levels up at the same rate no matter where you fish. It is entirely possible to go from 1 to 300 skill points without ever leaving a newbie zone (except for training and the artisan quest, obviously). This would be incredibly boring and you wouldn't get all the useful / lucrative fish (not to mention not being able to skill-up cooking at the same time), but it will take no longer than if you fish in level-appropriate areas.

Apprentice fishing and cooking (1-75)
1.Get apprentice Cooking from Gremlock Pilsnor in Kharanos, Daryl Riknussun in Ironforge, or Stephen Ryback in Old Town, Stormwind.
2.Get apprentice Fishing from Arnold Leland in Stormwind. He on a small dock in the canals in the NW corner of the trade district.
3.Buy a fishing pole from Catherine Leland, who should be near Arnold. You should also get a couple Shiny Baubles and the recipe for Brilliant Smallfish while you're there.
4.Go to any body of water in Elwynn Forrest and start fishing! Northshire will be easiest until you get to 20 or so. You should get Brilliant Smallfish 60% of the time.
5.When you've got a ton of Brilliant Smallfish, find a cooking fire (or make one yourself) and cook up your fish.
6.Repeat until you have between 50 and 75 skill points in both cooking and fishing.

Journeyman Fishing and Cooking (50-150)
1.Go to Tharynn Bouden in goldshire for the recipe for Longjaw Mud Snapper
2.Go back to Stephen Ryback in Stormwind for Journeyman Cooking
3.Find Arnold Leland again for Journeyman Fishing, and get some Nightcrawlers from his wife too.
4.Start fishing right there on the dock. You mostly want Longjaw Mud Snappers - their drop rate is about 65%. You will also get some Bristle Whisker Catfish here. Keep them for later.
5.Reel in the Longjaw Mud Snappers and cook them until your fishing skill is up to 100.
6.Return to Catherine Leland and buy the recipe for Bristle Whisker Catfish and a bunch of Bright Baubles.
7.Head to Redridge and start fishing Lake Everstill for Bristle Whisker Catfish. You should get around a 60% drop rate.
8.Fish and cook away until your fishing and cooking are between 125 and 150

Expert Fishing and Cooking (125-225)
1.For expert fishing, get the book Expert Fishing - The Bass and You from Old Man Hemming in Booty Bay. He's in a little house on the docks with a fishhook sign out front.
2.You need to get the book Expert Cooking from Shandrina in Ashenvale. This book will teach you Expert Cooking. She is on the northern shore of Mystral Lake.
3.After you get the cooking book, head north to Astranaar and start fishing for more Bristle Whisker Catfish. It will get your cooking up to 175, but it turns green at 160 so you'll have to make a bunch. Your fishing won't level very fast either after 140 or so. You just have to keep at it.
4.When you've gotten your cooking up to 175, head to Menethil Harbor and buy the recipe for Rockscale Cod from Stuart Fleming on the docks.
5.Take the boat to Theremore and start fishing for Rockscale Cod.
6.You'll probably need Bright Baubles to catch anything here at this point, and you can get them from Helenia Olden in town if you don't have any on you. She is in the 1st big house on the left as you enter Theremore from the docks, just behind the griffon master. She also sells other recipes you might be interested in.
7.Catch and cook all the Rockscale Cod you can - They drop nearly 60% here. You will sometimes catch Spotted Yellowtail also. Hold on to them for later
8.This is where you'll start to really notice the difference in skill-up speed between fishing and cooking. You'll max out your cooking in no time, but your fishing skill will still be well under 200. You can stay here if you want, but once you get to 200 you'll get better fish if you move on to Feralas (see below). Save any Zesty Clam Meat and Spotted Yellowtail you catch while there.

Artisan Fishing and Cooking (225-300)
1.Unlike the other skill levels, you need to be maxed out (225) at expert to get the artisan quests for fishing and cooking. The quests will not be available to you until you're at least level 35 and have 225 skill points.
The artisan cooking quest is Clamlette Surprise. You will probably be ready for this quest long before your fishing is up to 225, but that's ok. Head to Gagetzan in Tanaris and talk to Dirge Quikcleave in the Inn to get the quest.
2.One of the requirements for the quest is 10 pieces of Zesty Clam Meat. The easiest way to get zesty clam meat is fishing off the dock in Feralas, as you should have been doing for the last 20 skill points or so. They don't drop often, but all this extra fishing will help you get the skill caught up with cooking.
3.The other two quest items are Giant Eggs and Alterac Swiss. The eggs drop from the Rocs in tanaris, as well as owlbeasts in the hinterlands. The swiss is sold by innkeepers in several towns. Check here for the full list. Return to Dirge Quikcleave in Gadgetzan when you have all the items, turn in the quest, and you'll be an artisan cook.
4.Remember that Spotted Yellowtail you saved? Now you can cook it up all tasty-like after you get the recipe from Gikkix in Steamwheedle Port, Tanaris. Gikkix also sells the recipe for Poached Sunscale Salmon, which you can use at cooking level 250. Your best bet is to get them both now so you don't have to come back later.
5.To receive artisan fishing, you have to do a quest called Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme. Nat is on one of the small islands due west of Theremore. The coordinates (for those that can use them) are 58,60.
The quest requires you to get one each of 4 rare fish. It's a good idea to read the comments on Thottbot and Allakhazam to find out exactly where you need to fish for them. Anecdotal evidence suggests these fish may be timed drops. If somebody else just caught one, it might be a while until another drops. Take this into consideration if it seems like it's taking forever to get one of the fish.
6.Once you've caught them all, head back to Nat and complete the quest to become an artisan fisherman.
7.To max out both fishing and cooking, head on back to Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas. You will probably need bright baubles to catch anything here, but it's worth it. In addition to lots of spotted yellowtail, you'll sometimes catch valuable fish like Firefin Snapper and Stoneskin Eel (which go for 50s each in the auction house).
8.Fishing in this area will also occasionally yield Glossy Mightfish. The recipe for cooked Glossy Mightfish is limited, but might be worth it for the +10 stamina bonus you get for eating it. You should have quite a few of these by the time you wrap up.
9.Continue to catch and cook Spotted Yellowtail until you either top out at 300 or fall asleep from boredom. Cooking will go quickly with the Spotted Yellowtail recipe staying orange until 260 and remaining point-worthy all the way to 300. Fishing however slows to a crawl. You'll only be getting about 1 point per 5 or 6 fish at 240, and it's down to 1 in 10 by 280.
10.If you want, you can do the last 10-15 points or so of fishing in Zul'Gurub. You will need to be in a raid group to get inside the instance (you can disband as soon as you get in), as well as being at least level 55. You will definitely need an Aquadynamic Fish Attractor and possibly a Big Iron Fishing Pole as well. The good news is that the Lightning Eel and Plated Armorfish you catch will make it worth the price of admission. As soon as you enter ZG, jump off the stairs to the right and you can fish off the platform without aggroing any mobs.
11.Remember, once you've maxed out cooking, you can work on fishing anywhere and it will continue to skill up at the same rate. Instead of grinding away at it all at once, you're better off using it as something constructive to do while you're waiting around for something else.
